Giorgio Penzo named Giudecchino dell’anno for community service

Giorgio Penzo has been named the ‘Giudecchino dell’anno’ for his dedicated community service and support for the elderly in the Giudecca district of Venice. The award was presented during the 45th edition of the ‘Settimana culturale dell’Isola per la Città’ at the Renato Nardi Cultural Club.

Mayor Simone Venturini and Social Cohesion Councilor Ermelinda Damiano attended the ceremony. Venturini praised Penzo for his exceptional work through the Gaag club, where he and a group of volunteers provide free practical assistance to elderly residents, helping them manage documents and administrative tasks they might otherwise struggle to complete independently.

The recognition was delivered by club president Luigi Giordani, marking the conclusion of a week of cultural initiatives aimed at showcasing the vitality of the Giudecca territory.
