Giorgio Piombini organ festival celebrates 40 years

The ‘Itinerari organistici Giorgio Piombini’ festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Promoted by the Gruppo di Studi Savena Setta Sambro, the initiative began in 1986 to preserve and promote the historical-artistic heritage of the Bolognese Apennines through music.

Since its inception, the project has overseen the restoration of 25 historic organs in local mountain churches that were at risk of abandonment. These restorations, costing tens of thousands of euros each, have returned valuable cultural assets to the community and ensured the continued functionality of these ancient instruments.
