Giorgos Alkaios explains post‑Eurovision withdrawal and personal loss
Greek singer Giorgos Alkaios told host Nataliia Germanou on the TV show “Kalytera de ginetai” that after his participation in Eurovision 2010 he decided to retreat from the public eye. He said the music, social and political landscape had changed and he wanted to “quiet down and evolve” away from the spotlight. Alkaios also spoke about the death of his grandmother, describing how her passing – the loss of the family’s main support – deepened his need to step back. He added that he spent years reflecting on his career on the island of Mykonos and that he does not plan to return to the same level of public activity.
