Giorgos Dalaras performs in Hermoupolis for city's 200th anniversary

Singer Giorgos Dalaras performed a special concert in Hermoupolis, Syros, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the city. The event took place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Miaouli Square as part of the 10th Rebetiko Festival, ‘Syros of Markos Vamvakaris’.

During the event, the Mayor of Syros-Hermoupolis presented Dalaras with a commemorative medal for the city's bicentennial. Dalaras performed without a fee, joined by musicians Aspasia Stratigou, Vasilis Korakakis, Anatoli Margiola, and Nikos Tatasopoulos. The performance also included a collaboration with the ‘En Chordais & Organois’ school.

The festival aims to promote the musical heritage of Markos Vamvakaris and strengthen the cultural connection between his legacy and the island of Syros.
