Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Geropetritis has reaffirmed that Greece will not make any concessions regarding its national sovereignty or maritime rights. Speaking during an informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers in Ireland, Geropetritis addressed tensions in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, emphasizing Greece's commitment to international law and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

Geropetritis specifically addressed the GSI electrical interconnection project with Cyprus, stating that the project's regulatory and licensing framework falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of Athens. He clarified that no notification or licensing from third states is required for the cable, as the necessary procedures are covered through the issuance of NAVTEX for maritime safety.

Regarding relations with Turkey, the Foreign Minister noted that while cooperation has led to reductions in migration flows and increases in trade and tourism, a fundamental disagreement remains over the delimitation of maritime zones. He stated that Greece views the delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone and the continental shelf as the primary issue and suggested that a long-term solution could potentially be reached through international jurisdiction, such as the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
