Giorgos Louloudakis, New Democracy veteran, dies at 71

Giorgos Louloudakis, a prominent and historical figure of the New Democracy party, has passed away at the age of 71. Born in Drama in 1955, Louloudakis was a founding member of the party in 1974 and held numerous high-ranking positions, including Secretary of Organization and member of the Central Committee.

Throughout his political career, he served in various capacities, such as a founding member of ONNED and DAP-NDFK ASOEE, and held administrative roles in the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Bank of Greece. He also served on the board of the ‘Evangelismos’ (Erythros Stavros) Hospital.

Louloudakis had recently left New Democracy in late 2024 due to disagreements regarding the expulsion of former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. Samaras expressed deep shock at the loss, describing Louloudakis as a “genuine, authentic, and indomitable fighter of the Party” and a close collaborator, stating, “Goodbye George! Goodbye brother...”
