Giorgos Mazonakis death case: New lawyer appointed as EKAB rescuer testifies

The investigation into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis has seen significant developments involving legal changes and witness testimonies. Lawyer Nikos Alexandris has resigned from representing the accused doctor, Ioanna Gaka, citing current case conditions that make continued representation impossible. Petros Pantazis has been appointed as her new legal counsel.

An EKAB rescuer testified before an investigating magistrate, asserting that all emergency protocols were strictly followed during the response to Mazonakis's cardiac arrest. The rescuer explicitly denied the doctor's claim that she was prevented from accompanying the singer to the hospital, stating that no medical staff requested to join the transport.

Further testimony from an anesthesiologist revealed that a nurse had contacted her during the critical period to inquire about an antidote for propofol. The anesthesiologist confirmed the inquiry but stated no antidote was provided. Authorities are currently awaiting toxicological results to determine if propofol was administered, which remains a central focus of the inquiry into potential manslaughter.
