Mazonakis death investigation: New evidence in medical malpractice case

New evidence has emerged in the investigation into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis, who collapsed at a clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki. Investigators are focusing on communications between a 56-year-old female doctor and a 61-year-old anesthesiologist. Text messages allegedly sent on September 2 show the doctor requesting midazolam, a hospital-grade sedative found in the singer's blood.

A 58-year-old male doctor, currently in custody, has submitted a supplemental memorandum to investigators. He seeks to distance himself from his wife's professional practices, claiming their medical operations were independent despite sharing a clinic. He asserts he was examining another patient at the time of the incident and has provided medical documents and a witness to support this claim.

Further inquiries are examining the procurement of medical substances and the clinic's operations. Reports suggest the anesthesiologist was paid for venipuncture procedures, and investigators are looking into whether the 56-year-old doctor used sedatives to manage difficulties during these procedures. Additionally, authorities are investigating the presence of two vials of flumazenil, a midazolam antidote, discovered during a subsequent police check.
