Giorgos Pamboridis criticizes DISY presidential selection process

DISY lawmaker Giorgos Pamboridis has expressed significant concerns regarding the accelerated internal processes for selecting the party’s presidential candidate in Cyprus. Pamboridis criticized the tight deadlines, noting that he is required to provide a list of 500 supporting members by October 13, which he argues leaves insufficient time to present a political vision to the party membership.

Pamboridis described the current selection process as a “recipe for destruction” for upcoming national elections. He warned that if DISY fails to secure the presidency for a second consecutive term, the party may face an existential crisis.

Addressing rumors of political deals, Pamboridis denied any backroom agreements with other potential candidates, including Averof Neophytou or Anita Demetriou. He emphasized that his political decisions are not subject to negotiation or “trading” and stated he remains independent of external influences.
