Giorgos Patoulis referred to National Transparency Authority

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has referred a dossier of allegations regarding the business activities of Giorgos Patoulis, President of the Medical Association of Athens, to the National Transparency Authority. The dossier, compiled by the Panhellenic Medical Association, includes information from media reports and online investigations rather than new citizen complaints.

Patoulis has responded by stating he fully supports the referral, calling it the ‘correct institutional path.’ He claimed to have personally requested a thorough investigation from the Health Minister to end what he described as ‘cannibalism, the spread of false news, and his targeting.’

The investigation coincides with the launch of MedWatch, a new digital tool using artificial intelligence to monitor medical advertisements. Initial findings from MedWatch have flagged hundreds of ‘red’ cases involving unauthorized advertisements for Botox, stem cell treatments, and weight loss injections across Athens, Thessaloniki, and Piraeus.
