Giorgos Taxidis mounts Mount Athos art exhibition at Hydras Museum

The artist Giorgos Taxidis presents the exhibition “Άγιον Όρος. Τόπος Σιωπής” at the GAK Historical Archive – Museum of Hydras from 1 August to 31 August 2026. The show displays 115 works—paintings, engravings, sculptures and water‑colours—created during a five‑year artistic program (2020‑2025) that included more than fifteen visits to the twenty monasteries of Mount Athos.

The opening ceremony on Saturday, 1 August at 21:00 will feature a screening of the documentary “Άγιον Όρος. Τόπος Σιωπής” by director Nikos Anagnostopoulos, followed by a discussion with Taxidis, Anagnostopoulos and exhibition curator Anastasiou Douros. The exhibition is co‑organized by the Museum of Hydras, the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Hydras, and the Mount Athos Center of Thessaloniki, and follows previous presentations in Thessaloniki, Drama and Istanbul.
