Giornate del Cinema Muto opens with Douglas Fairbanks film

The 45th edition of the Giornate del Cinema Muto in Pordenone will open on October 3 at the Teatro Verdi with a screening of the 1925 film ‘Don Q, Son of Zorro’, directed by Donald Crisp.

The film features Hollywood star Douglas Fairbanks, who also served as its producer. Fairbanks was renowned for his athletic performances in adventure films such as ‘The Mark of Zorro’, ‘Robin Hood’, and ‘The Thief of Bagdad’. Beyond his acting career, Fairbanks was a significant figure in film industry history; he co-founded United Artists alongside Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, and D.W. Griffith to maintain creative control over their work. He was also a founding member and the first president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
