Giovanna Mayer sworn in as judge at TRE-PB

Lawyer and professor Giovanna Mayer has been sworn in as a judge at the Regional Electoral Court of Paraíba (TRE-PB). Her appointment fills a jurist vacancy previously held by Roberto D’Horn Moreira Monteiro da Franca Sobrinho.

This appointment is historic for the region, as it marks the first time the triple list submitted for this position was composed exclusively of women. The selection follows a policy by the National Council of Justice (CNJ) aimed at increasing female representation within the courts.

During her inauguration, Mayer emphasized the necessity of female presence in decision-making roles to ensure a truly representative democracy. She noted that having women in power allows for more inclusive perspectives and a stronger defense of women's rights. The appointment comes at a critical time for the court as it manages intense electoral processes, including candidate registrations and eligibility challenges.
