João Pessoa reports municipal updates in social rights, sports, and journalism

Various municipal developments and achievements have been reported in João Pessoa. The Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CMDCA-JP) released the provisional list of institutions eligible to run for civil society representative elections for the 2026-2028 biennium. Out of ten candidate institutions, seven were deemed eligible, while three were disqualified due to documentation issues.

In sports, the Fundação Campeões do Amanhã saw significant success. Athlete Giovanna Moura secured third place in the Brazilian Aquathlon Championship in Bahia. Additionally, 32 athletes from the foundation achieved qualifying indices during the I Torneio Kay France at the Vila Olímpica Parahyba, positioning them for the Norte-Nordeste Troféu Walter Figueiredo.

Furthermore, the João Pessoa City Hall earned second place in the 2026 APCA Award in the Digital Journalism category. The award recognized a report by journalist Nice Almeida regarding the ‘Elas Lideram’ program, which focuses on female entrepreneurship and gender equity.
