Giovanni Amoroso discusses Italian Constitution at various universities
Giovanni Amoroso, President of the Italian Constitutional Court, has participated in several academic events across Italy to discuss the history, implementation, and importance of the Italian Constitution.
At the University of Teramo, during the 41st annual convention of the Italian Association of Constitutionalists, Amoroso emphasized that the Constitution is a common heritage that must be explained and passed on to new generations. He addressed the relationship between the implementation and revision of the Charter, noting that the Court has been a witness to its ongoing application since 1956.
During visits to the University of Macerata, Amoroso reflected on seventy years of the Court's activity, including its more than 20,000 rulings. He recounted the historical challenges faced during the Court's formation, noting that it took eight years to become operational due to political and legal resistance. He highlighted the role of Alcide De Gasperi in advocating for a judge of laws to prevent past political deviations.
Additionally, Amoroso is scheduled to inaugurate the academic year for Law at the University of Calabria. He will deliver a lecture titled ‘Work and the Constitution,’ focusing on constitutional principles regarding labor rights, dignity, and social protection, drawing on his extensive experience in labor magistracy.
