Giovanni Carboni handed four-year doping ban

Italian cyclist Giovanni Carboni was banned for four years after the Union Cycliste Internationale's International Testing Agency concluded that abnormalities in his biological passport were highly likely caused by doping. The irregularities were recorded during and after the 2024 Tour of Langkawi.

The suspension runs from 11 September 2025 to 10 September 2029, and all results obtained between 29 September 2024 and 11 September 2025 have been annulled. Carboni was provisionally suspended in September 2025, prompting his team Unibet Tietema Rockets to terminate his contract later that year. He may appeal the ruling before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
