Giovanni Crippa to become Bishop of Palmeira dos Índios

Dom Giovanni Crippa is set to be installed as the 6th bishop of the Diocese of Palmeira dos Índios in Alagoas, Brazil. The canonical installation ceremony is scheduled for November 29, 2026, at the Diocesan Cathedral.

Before his official appointment, Crippa will conclude his current tenure in the Diocese of Ilhéus, with his final mass there scheduled for November 14. He expressed gratitude for his time in Ilhéus, noting that the transfer is part of the Church's missionary dynamics.

For his new episcopal ministry, Crippa has chosen the motto “In aedificationem corporis Christi” (For the edification of the Body of Christ). In a message to the faithful, he emphasized a desire to serve the community with humility and foster communion among the clergy, religious members, and laypeople.
