Giovanni Franzoni outlines goals for upcoming skiing season

Italian alpine skier Giovanni Franzoni has shared updates regarding his preparation and future goals during a FISI Media Day. Following a breakout season that included World Cup victories in Wengen and Kitzbühel and an Olympic silver medal in downhill, the 25-year-old is preparing for the upcoming season opener in Soelden, where he will start with bib number 31.

Franzoni discussed his training regimen, noting that he spent a month in Argentina and Chile focusing on muscle strengthening and technical work rather than intensive skiing. While he encountered some weather challenges in Chile, he reported being in good physical condition. Looking ahead to the 2026/27 season, Franzoni expressed interest in adding giant slalom as a third discipline to his repertoire alongside downhill and super-G.

He also highlighted the significant influence of teammate Dominik Paris, describing their relationship as both professional and personal. Franzoni praised Paris for his sincerity and transparency, stating he views the champion as a valuable source of information for his own development. He expressed hope that Paris will continue to compete alongside him for several years.
