Giovanni Lonardi wins Stage 2 of the Tour of Istanbul

Giovanni Lonardi of Team Polti VisitMalta won the second stage of the Tour of Istanbul, a 149.9-kilometer route through Şile. Lonardi secured the victory in a final sprint after a challenging, hilly course and hot weather. This win marks Lonardi’s second victory of the season and the seventh for his team in 2026.

Despite the intense competition, French cyclist Baptiste Vadic maintained his lead in the general classification, retaining both the orange jersey and the blue jersey. Artëm Fofonov continues to hold the white jersey for the best young rider.

During the stage, several Turkish cyclists, including Mustafa Tekin, Muhammed Erkan, and Ferhat Emişçi, were part of a seven-person breakaway group. Tekin, representing the Spor Toto Cycling Team, successfully defended his green jersey by leading at the climbing gate.
