Giovanni Gargiulo discusses overcoming emotional distress

Giovanni Gargiulo, a central player for Lube Volley and the Italian national volleyball team, has shared his experience overcoming a period of significant emotional distress. The athlete described suffering for months from mood swings, insomnia, and sudden episodes of crying, noting that while he felt fine during matches and in front of fans, he felt a profound sense of unease when returning home.

Gargiulo explained that he made the difficult decision to seek external help and temporarily step away from the national team during the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) to regain his balance. He expressed gratitude to the Lube Volley staff and national team figures, including Marco Meoni and Fefè De Giorgi, for their understanding and humanity during his recovery.

By speaking publicly about his struggle, Gargiulo aims to raise awareness regarding the importance of recognizing psychological distress and encourages others not to isolate themselves, but to seek support without shame.
