Torino FC accelerates summer signings under new coach Ignazio Abate

Torino is intensifying its summer transfer activity after appointing former Juve Stabia manager Ignazio Abate as head coach. The club is close to acquiring Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo, valued around €18 million, and has already secured Swiss defender Eray Comert on a two‑year deal. Medical examinations for both players are scheduled as negotiations progress.

During the pre‑season retreat in Pinzolo, striker Giovanni Simeone described the camp as very positive, praising Abate’s intensity and tactical approach and likening him to Antonio Conte and Stefano Pioli. Simeone affirmed his commitment to Torino for the coming season, noting that a future return to Argentina remains a personal goal but is not imminent. The sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is steering the transfer moves, while the club also eyes midfielder Kristijan Jakic as a potential addition.
