Giovanni Tortorici's Ketticé screens at Locarno Film Festival

Giovanni Tortorici's film "Ketticé" is featured in the international competition at the Locarno Film Festival. Set in Palermo during the Berlusconi era, the film explores the lives of two sixteen-year-olds, Giulio and Ketty, as they navigate social pressures, substance use, and the lack of ideological connection to the adult world.

Monica Bellucci stars as Giulio's mother, portraying a character dealing with internal malaise and family crisis behind a facade of upper-class stability. Bellucci described the role as "interesting" and "new" for her, noting the tension and lack of communication within the depicted aristocratic family.

Director Tortorici utilized a casting process that included auditions in Palermo schools to find non-professional actors, aiming for authenticity in depicting the cultural stagnation and social dynamics of that specific era.
