Giovanni Troilo documentary on San Gennaro to release in January 2027

Director Giovanni Troilo will release the documentary ‘O Sang. Il Miracolo di San Gennaro in Italian cinemas on January 25, 26, and 27, 2027. Produced by Nexo Studios and Officina della Comunicazione, the film is part of the “I Misteri della Fede” series.

The documentary explores the deep connection between Naples and its patron saint, San Gennaro, through three distinct perspectives: the Church, the Deputazione (nobility), and the people. Troilo utilized an immersive filming approach with compact 4K cameras and miniature sound devices to capture the subjects naturally without traditional interviews or voiceovers.

The film aims to examine the intersection of faith, tradition, and popular identity, investigating how the figure of San Gennaro serves as a cultural and identity-defining symbol for the city of Naples.
