São Paulo police rescue child and arrest suspect in domestic violence case
In São Bernardo do Campo, a woman used a discreet strategy to call emergency services by pretending to order a pizza. This tactic allowed her to alert the Military Police to ongoing domestic violence and threats from her ex-partner without alerting the aggressor. Upon arrival, officers found the woman's three-month-old baby alone on a bed with clothing covering its face, which was obstructing its breathing. The infant was rescued safely, and the suspect was arrested.
In a separate incident in Praia Grande, a 10-year-old girl was rescued from a kidnapping situation after a police officer noticed her silent plea for help through eye contact during a patrol. The girl later met with the officer, Cabo Willians Alves Dias, to deliver a thank-you letter and a gift, expressing gratitude for his ability to understand her fear when she could not speak.
Additionally, in Cosmópolis, a newborn baby was found abandoned in a trash-filled area near a stream. The infant, who had injuries to the chest and abdomen, was rescued by a local resident and transferred to a neonatal intensive care unit in Campinas. Police are investigating the abandonment as an attempted homicide.
