Girlevik Waterfall in Erzincan attracts tourists escaping European heat

The Girlevik Waterfall, located near Kalecik village on the slopes of the Munzur Mountains in Erzincan, Turkey, is formed by the convergence of nine spring sources and drops 40 metres before reaching the valley floor. Designated as a protected natural site, the cascade draws large numbers of visitors in summer, offering a cool respite for domestic and foreign tourists fleeing the heat across Europe.

Visitors describe the experience as spectacular: "Erzincan's natural wonder Girlevik Waterfall is beautiful – everyone should see it," said Ilayda Reyyan Koşan, while Sabriye Yıldız, who brought guests from Germany, urged others to visit, noting the area's suitability for picnics, coffee and relaxation. In winter the waterfall is known for ice formations and stalactites, adding a seasonal attraction to the site.

The popularity of the waterfall supports local tourism, with families and tour groups gathering to enjoy the scenery, walk the surrounding paths, and partake in picnics.
