Charity marathons announced in İskele and Girne to support local causes

Two major charity marathons are being organized in Northern Cyprus to support specific community needs.

The first is the inaugural İskele International Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, September 27. Organized by İskele Municipality, the event features four categories: a 21km half marathon, 10km, 3km public run, and a children's race. Proceeds will fund the development of facilities for the Ötüken Special Education and Vocational Training School, including a 1,200-square-meter project featuring an accessible indoor swimming pool, two classrooms, and an accessible life and skills house designed for individuals with special needs.

The second is the 7th Girne Half Marathon, set for Sunday, October 11. Organized by Girne Municipality in collaboration with the KKTC Athletics Federation and sponsored by Pasha Group, this event aims to support 28 families affected by a recent maritime disaster. The goal is to raise 28 million TL (1 million TL per family) to assist those who lost loved ones or remain missing. The race includes 21km, 10km, 5km, 3km, and 1km categories.
