Bordighera launches seventh “Passaggi illustri” theater festival celebrating Monet
The Riviera Ligure town of Bordighera is preparing for the seventh edition of the “Passaggi illustri” festival, scheduled from 25 July to 9 August 2026. The event features six itinerant performances along the Sentiero del Beodo, the historic path that inspired Claude Monet’s seaside paintings. The program, titled “Lo Straordinario mondo di Monet tra arte e vita”, combines theatre, music and visual art, moving the audience through the natural landscape that Monet once painted. Organisers note that the format, now a staple of the summer cultural calendar, continues to attract visitors and audiences seeking an immersive experience that blurs the line between nature and performance.
The festival’s return underscores Bordighera’s long‑standing link to European art history, recalling Monet’s visits to the town in the late 19th century. By staging the shows directly on the trail, the organisers aim to deepen the connection between the painter’s legacy and the local environment, offering a unique cultural attraction for both residents and tourists.
