Giro d’Italia 2027 route features 50,250m of climbing

RCS Sport has unveiled the route for the 110th edition of the Giro d’Italia, scheduled to take place from May 8 to May 30, 2027. The race will cover 3,418.9 kilometers with a total vertical gain of 50,250 meters, starting in Trieste and concluding in Rome.

The route is designed to be highly challenging for climbers, featuring eight summit finishes and the return of the iconic Monte Zoncolan. Key stages include a mountain time trial at Campo di Giove and significant climbs such as the Mortirolo and Gavia. To enhance rider safety, race director Luca Guercilena has introduced three stages utilizing motor racing circuits: the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit in Misano Adriatico, the Mugello Circuit in Tuscany, and an individual time trial starting at the Monza circuit.

While the race remains free for spectators, organizers are considering limiting crowds on certain mountain climbs to ensure safety. The 2027 edition will also include a brief passage through Slovenia during the second stage from Ljubljana to Koper. Additionally, the Consorzio DOP Delle Venezie has renewed its partnership as the Official Wine of the race.
