Girona highlights its historic architecture and medieval landmarks
Girona, known as the ‘City of the Seven Sieges,’ offers a blend of Pyrenean influence and Mediterranean light. Key landmarks include the colorful houses of the Onyar River, which feature facades in ochre, red, and cream tones. The red iron bridge, designed by the company of Gustave Eiffel, connects the old quarter with the modern city.
The city features one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval Jewish Quarters, characterized by narrow streets and historical significance dating back to the 12th century. Additionally, the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Girona is noted for its architectural prominence.
