Girona PSC demands urgent budget for TMG bus fleet renewal

The PSC-Girona pel Canvi political group has called on the Girona City Council to implement an urgent plan and budget to renew the Transports Municipals del Gironès (TMG) bus fleet. The group is demanding a clear timeline and guaranteed investments following announcements from the municipal government that they deem insufficient.

The situation has escalated into a labor dispute, with staff threatening to withhold special services for the upcoming Sant Narcís Fairs if an agreement is not reached. Workers have reported mechanical issues within the current fleet that hinder service frequency. While the City Council has tendered for twelve electric buses over three years, critics note that the first two vehicles are not expected until late 2027 and the total scale of the renewal remains unclear.
