Jacqueline Stuhler, long-time ARD Buffet moderator, dies at 70

Jacqueline Stuhler, a prominent German television journalist and moderator, has died at the age of 70 following a long, serious illness. Her death was confirmed by her husband, and the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) announced the news on Tuesday.

Stuhler was best known to a national audience as the face of the advisory program ‘ARD Buffet’ for eleven years, having been part of its founding team in 1998. SWR Director Kai Gniffke honored her legacy, describing her as one of the station’s defining faces and a ‘clever journalist and empathetic moderator’ who made complex topics understandable.

Her career spanned several decades and major broadcasters. After starting at the Nürnberger Zeitung and working for Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) on youth programs like ‘Zündfunk’, she moved to the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) in 1990, where she led the domestic politics editorial department. She also contributed to WDR and Einsplus throughout her professional life.
