Gisela Pulido hospitalized after kitesurfing accident in Tarifa
Kitesurfing champion Gisela Pulido was hospitalized following a severe fall during a Big Air training session in Tarifa, Spain. The accident occurred at the Balneario area during her third session of the day, as evening approached.
Pulido reported falling from a significant height, resulting in a heavy impact to her rib area. After medical examinations, she was diagnosed with cartilage fissures and intercostal muscle injuries. While the injuries are serious enough to require an ambulance transfer to emergency services, she described the situation as a “scare” and confirmed there were no life-threatening complications.
The athlete explained that she was attempting to maximize limited wind conditions, having had several days without suitable weather. She expressed regret for not stopping sooner, noting the importance of listening to physical fatigue. Pulido is currently focusing on rest and recovery before returning to the water.
