Gisela Simona pledges social and environmental focus for Mato Grosso

Gisela Simona, candidate for vice-governor on Otaviano Pivetta’s reelection ticket in Mato Grosso, has emphasized her commitment to humanizing public management and addressing environmental issues.

During a recent interview, Simona highlighted how her personal background influences her desire to focus on social policies, particularly in health and support for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and neurodivergent individuals. She expressed her intention to be an active participant in government decision-making rather than a symbolic figure.

Simona also conducted an inspection of the Rio Cuiabá to assess environmental degradation caused by irregular sewage disposal, solid waste, and siltation. She stated that preserving the river is a priority for her and Pivetta’s administration. If elected, she proposes an integrated agenda starting in 2027 to work with municipalities to expand sewage treatment, strengthen waste collection, and accelerate the analysis of Rural Environmental Registries to protect springs and riparian forests.
