Gitanjali Angmo urges Bollywood to adapt Indian epics after praising The Odyssey
Activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife and social entrepreneur Gitanjali Angmo posted on X praising Christopher Nolan’s film *The Odyssey*. She described the viewing as “surreal” and wrote, “Watched Odyssey yesterday. Surreal to see on screen what was still a conversation when I accidentally met Christopher Nolan in New York in 2024,” noting that the film’s themes of hero’s journey, dharma, exile and homecoming echo Indian imagination.
Angmo then called on Bollywood to “rediscover its role as one of our most powerful classrooms,” urging the industry to bring India’s treasure‑house of epics to the big screen with scale, sensitivity and intellectual depth. The post follows Wangchuk’s 26‑day hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, which culminated in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
