GitHub Copilot introduces AI credit-based pricing model

GitHub has implemented a new pricing structure for its AI coding assistant, GitHub Copilot, which utilizes a system of AI credits. As of October 2026, usage capabilities are determined by the monthly credit allowance associated with a specific subscription plan rather than just the flat monthly fee.

Individual plans range from a Free tier to Pro ($10/month), Pro+ ($39/month), and Max ($100/month). For organizations, Copilot Business is priced at $19 per seat monthly, while Copilot Enterprise is $39 per seat monthly.

One AI credit is valued at $0.01. Credits are consumed when users interact with Copilot via chat or through its agents, with the cost varying based on the complexity of the task and the specific model selected. Notably, code completions and next-edit suggestions remain unlimited across all paid plans and do not consume credits.
