GitHub records highest‑ever June usage of Copilot AI coding assistant

GitHub's chief technology officer Vladimir Fedorov told employees that June was "by far the best month" for usage of the company's Copilot AI coding tool. The surge followed a recent change to Copilot's pricing model, leading to a substantial increase in customer activity. While the company did not disclose specific figures, Fedorov noted the growth as a positive sign amid competition from tools such as Cursor, OpenAI's Codex, and Anthropic's Claude Code.
