Giugliano in Campania police crackdown seizes stolen electricity, cocaine and illegal ammunition

Carabinieri units in Giugliano in Campania carried out two separate operations targeting illegal activities. In the Rom camps of the Giugliano province, officers seized wiring used to divert public electricity, identifying 26 family heads accused of energy theft. The raid also resulted in the confiscation of about one tonne of mixed steel, valued at roughly €300‑€450, and 19 vehicles seized for lack of proper insurance or false registration, with 75 people identified, including 27 minors.

In a separate sweep of the Varcaturo area, Carabinieri arrested a 46‑year‑old woman suspected of drug trafficking after she attempted to discard a safety box from a balcony. Inside were 14 pre‑packaged doses of cocaine, an additional 12 g of the drug, a precision balance and packaging materials. The search also uncovered 41 bullets and a blank pistol, leading to charges against the woman's husband for illegal ammunition possession. Both operations underscore ongoing law‑enforcement efforts against theft, drug trafficking and unlawful weapons in the Naples province.
