Giulia Gwinn sidelined with ankle ligament tear
FC Bayern Munich and German national team captain Giulia Gwinn will be sidelined for several weeks following a ligament tear in her left ankle. The injury occurred during a Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt, where the 27-year-old defender was forced to leave the pitch limping.
Due to this setback, Gwinn will miss upcoming international fixtures against Australia and Japan. German national coach Christian Wück has called up Sarai Linder from VfL Wolfsburg as a replacement. This injury follows a series of recent health challenges for Gwinn, including a shoulder operation and previous cruciate ligament tears.
In addition to Gwinn, the German national team is dealing with absences from Kathrin Hendrich and Rebecca Knaak.
