Giuliano announces retirement from professional football

Brazilian midfielder Giuliano Victor de Paula has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. The veteran player shared his decision via social media, reflecting on a twenty-year career that included 789 official matches, 163 goals, and 124 assists.

Giuliano’s career spanned several major clubs in Brazil, including Internacional, Grêmio, Corinthians, Santos, and Athletico-PR. His international experience included stints with Dnipro in Ukraine, Zenit in Russia, Fenerbahçe in Turkey, and Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Notably, he was a key player in Internacional’s 2010 Copa Libertadores victory and earned 14 caps for the Brazilian national team.

Following his retirement, Giuliano plans to transition into the business side of the sport, focusing on career management and sports entrepreneurship. His final professional season was with Athletico-PR in 2025.
