Giulianova railway station area under renewed tension as merchant Gianluca Grimi receives threats

The plaza of Giulianova railway station in Italy returned to the spotlight after repeated incidents of disorder. A homeless man repeatedly entered the area, consuming alcohol despite a municipal ban and escalating aggression toward a bar owner.

The bar owner, Gianluca Grimi – also provincial president of the merchants’ association Confesercenti – reported receiving direct threats. Police from the Railway Police (Polfer) and the Carabinieri had to intervene multiple times to remove the individual, who kept returning.

Grimi filed a new criminal complaint and the Carabinieri have forwarded a detailed report to the local prosecutor, calling for possible further measures. Merchants have urged structural security improvements, noting previous closures of the bar during certain hours to protect staff.
