Giulianova traffic: TAR rejects suspension of two-way street

The Abruzzo Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has rejected a precautionary request to suspend the implementation of two-way traffic on Via Thaon De Revel in Giulianova. The decision allows the current traffic arrangement to remain in place, affecting a strategic route that connects the seaside area and Viale Orsini with State Road 16.

Local residents had filed the appeal to halt the new traffic organization, citing concerns over road width and safety. However, the court noted that following the filing of the appeal on July 18, 2026, the Municipality of Giulianova modified the road markings to ensure the lane width met the minimum requirement of 5.50 meters. The TAR observed that these modifications effectively mitigated the immediate danger to circulation that had prompted the legal challenge.

Tito Di Pietro, the lawyer representing the four residents, clarified that the court's refusal to grant the urgent suspension does not constitute a final judgment on the legality of the municipality's actions. He emphasized that the merits of the case remain open, as the defense continues to contest the administration's original measures.
