Giulio Lomartire composes musical tribute to 130 years of cinema
Composer Giulio Lomartire has created a musical project titled ‘Il suono della settima arte. 130 anni di musica per il cinema’ (The Sound of the Seventh Art: 130 Years of Music for Cinema) to commemorate the 130th anniversary of cinematography.
Presented by Eleutheria Edizioni Musicali, the work explores the evolution of the relationship between images and sound, spanning from the Lumière brothers in 1895 through the silent era, Hollywood, Neorealism, and the Nouvelle Vague, up to the digital age. The composition serves as an anthology of the technical and expressive styles developed in film scoring over the last century.
The project was selected as a recipient of the ‘Per Chi Crea’ national grant, supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture and SIAE.
