Giurgiulești International Free Port cited as strategic asset for Moldova

Romanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, visited the Giurgiulești International Free Port, describing the facility as a strategic asset for the region. He noted that the port is more than a transit point, serving to maintain safe trade routes, strengthen Moldova's economic resilience, and diversify transport connections.

Țurcanu emphasized that closer integration between the port's infrastructure, Romania, and European transport networks provides Moldova with better access to the European market and logistical alternatives. He characterized the port as a vital component of Moldova's European integration process.

The Giurgiulești Port serves as Moldova's primary access point for international maritime and fluvial transport via the Lower Danube, supporting river, sea, road, and rail connections. The visit was part of a broader regional program involving community dialogue and education projects in southern Moldova.
