Medical experts discuss AI integration in Italian healthcare

Medical professionals in Italy are discussing the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced technology across various specialties. At the 75th national congress of the Italian Society of Neurosurgery (Sinch) in Catania, experts emphasized that while AI and tools like neuronavigation can improve diagnostic precision and reduce surgical risks, they must serve as aids rather than replacements for clinical experience and human judgment.

In the field of anesthesiology and critical care, the Siaarti congress highlighted the need for more uniform implementation of early warning systems and Medical Emergency Teams in Italian hospitals to detect patient deterioration before it becomes an emergency.

Additionally, Sanofi is investing 36 million euros in its Anagni plant to advance biotechnology and digitalize production through AI. In other clinical developments, research into oveporexton shows promise for treating type 1 narcolepsy by restoring orexin signaling.
