Giuseppe Catapano elected president of Italian Society of Neurosurgery

Giuseppe Catapano, director of the Neurosurgery Unit at Naples' Ospedale del Mare, has been elected president of the Italian Society of Neurosurgery (Sinch). The election took place during the society's 75th national congress held in Catania.

Catapano succeeds Domenico d’Avella. His leadership will focus on promoting research, training new specialists, and advancing technological innovation within the discipline. The congress featured over 700 studies and 95 scientific sessions, covering topics such as brain and spinal cord pathologies, minimally invasive surgery, and the application of artificial intelligence in neurosurgery.

Catapano emphasized that while technological innovations offer extraordinary prospects, the primary focus must remain on the patient and ensuring equitable access to appropriate care.
