Giuseppe Conte advances ‘Alleanza per la Costituzione’ political project

Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S), is reportedly advancing a political project titled ‘Alleanza per la Costituzione’. The initiative aims to build a national network of committees centered on his leadership, utilizing a communication model similar to American political campaigns that avoids prominent party symbols in favor of a personal tour and focus on his experience.

This move is viewed as a way to exert pressure on Democratic Party (PD) Secretary Elly Schlein regarding the selection of a center-left prime ministerial candidate. While Conte is positioned as a potential leader for the ‘Campo largo’ coalition, internal discussions suggest he may be prepared to run independently if a consensus cannot be reached within the coalition.

In a separate context, during the launch of his book ‘Una nuova primavera’ in Diamante, Conte addressed Italy’s economic challenges. He criticized the impact of inflation and rising energy costs on families and businesses, describing a period of economic stagnation. He emphasized that while the PNRR funds have prevented a deeper crisis, a national strategy is required to convert these investments into real growth and employment.
