Giuseppe Conte criticizes US and UK approach to Ukraine war

Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Five Star Movement, has criticized the current approach to the war in Ukraine, stating that the “recipe” proposed by the United States and Great Britain has failed. Speaking in Rome, Conte noted that the strategy has resulted in deaths and destruction without providing a viable path for reconstruction for the suffering nation.

Conte expressed concern regarding recent developments in the United States, describing an agreement between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin as “irresponsible.” While maintaining support for Ukraine through economic and financial means, Conte argued that the most effective way to support the country is through active diplomatic negotiations.

He called for Europe to show courage by prioritizing politics, dialogue, and diplomacy to defend the Ukrainian population. Conte also indicated that opposition parties are working toward a unified resolution regarding the conflict.
