Giuseppe Conte defends investigative journalism amid Ranucci case developments

Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Five Star Movement (M5S), has defended investigative journalism, stating that inquiries such as those by the program ‘Report’ are not a problem for Italian citizens, but rather for politicians who cannot tolerate scrutiny. Conte criticized the current government for remaining stagnant over the last four years without providing solutions.

In a separate legal development regarding the Ranucci case, investigators are preparing for upcoming proceedings. Prosecutors in Rome allege that a bomb placed near a villa in Pomezia was not intended to increase security for Ranucci, but was a calculated move to boost his popularity and position him as a ‘king maker’ in politics. Defense attorneys for Lavitola have indicated he may appear before judges to provide clarifications regarding his previous statements.
