Giuseppe Conte proposes housing and education reforms

Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Movimento 5 Stelle, has identified housing access and the right to education as primary policy priorities. During an appearance on La7, Conte criticized the current government's housing policies, arguing that insufficient action has been taken over the last four years. He specifically contested the long-term timeline of the new housing plan and advocated for maintaining support mechanisms such as the rent fund and assistance for involuntary arrears.

Conte linked the housing crisis to broader economic pressures, including low real wages, inflation, rising utility costs, and job insecurity. Regarding education, he proposed redirecting funds currently earmarked for the Bridge over the Strait toward investments in schools to support the right to study.

On energy policy, Conte suggested that reducing VAT is merely a temporary fix. He argued for a stronger focus on renewable energy sources and a transition that decouples energy prices from gas costs.
