Giuseppe Galli urges reset of Italian football transfer market and youth development

Giuseppe Galli, president of the Italian agents’ association Assoagenti, said the Italian football market is "sick" and needs a complete clean‑up. He warned that clubs cannot afford to spend €50‑60 million on a player and urged a focus on training and exporting home‑grown talent, noting a lack of clear identity and limited opportunities for young Italian players.

Galli dismissed the view that agents dominate transfers, arguing that club executives have the final say. He cited the example of Jorge Mendes failing to deliver players for Gattuso at Fiorentina. He also commented on Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, saying the club spent heavily last season and is likely to adopt a more cautious approach this year.
